In addition to all the fixtures and fittings that come with the boat, we needed to obtain all the extra kit needed to turn her into a fully functional long haul cruising yacht. This proved to be a mixture of stuff we already had, stuff we had an opportunity to buy from friends who had recently sold their boat, and new stuff we had to buy. I have put down everything we listed, not to send you all to sleep, but with the idea that those of you that don’t know what goes onto a sailing boat can skim the list and get a flavour of the things we use, and hopefully it will be of interest to others fitting boats out. We will report on how well it all works as we go.
